Well we left E-town on Wednesday @ 11am (we were intending to leave by 4:30am, but you know us!). Our original destination was intended to be Yorktown (just past Regina, rougly 7+ hours from edmonton)...We made it to Saskatoon @ 6:00pm (3 hours outside of Yorktown, in took us 7hrs). Saskatoon was suprisingly beautiful and the perfect rest stop for the three of us, it sure was nice to get out and walk.After Saskatoon we went on to Winnipeg, the longest trip so far. Makeba has been hot and cold about the whole thing. When she sleeps we were happy and when she is awake we were less so (she is doing her best, and we love her still). It turns out that driving in the car for long distances doesn't mean Makeba suddenly sleeps for 5hrs straight. Winnepeg was raining, cold, and depressing. The architecture is great (giant old stone turn of the century buildings all over downtown) but it is not that happy of a place on a crappy day.
We are now in Dryden just out side of Kenora and about 3.5hrs from Thunder Bay. I have no idea what it looks like because its 12:00am.
Thus far the trip has been exciting, boring, beautiful, touching, and bonding.
Three things I have learnt to date:
1) Canada is an amazing place and when you drive it you get a great sense for its geographic variety and vastness but somehow Canada feels smaller now.
2) Being told that there are no rooms available is rejecting, it makes me feel like Mary and Joesph and I seriously considered looking for a stable to curl up in (there was nothing available in Kenora our intended destination for tonight).
3) The Holt Renfrew clearence store in Winnepeg is bad news on a cloudy, rainy day
