Happy Half Year, Makeba!

Saturday, February 17, 2007 was Makeba's 6 month birthday! Half a year is a lot! It seems like not that long ago that Makeba was a newborn and we were just learning the basics of taking care of a baby. She's so much more exciting now! It's so wonderful to see how she's grown and changed. She's sitting up by herself now, waving to us, smiling A LOT, laughing, teething, so focussed on playing, grabbing and shaking things, and sucking and chewing on her big toes! She's our little character!

Reminiscing...

I've been thinking about our trip to the Caribbean last year. Last year at this time we had been back in Canada for a month and I was just beginning to really understand that I was pregnant. Now we have a beautiful 6 month old daughter who makes us smile every day. Life sure has changed! Here are some images from that trip. I can't wait to go back there when I don't have morning sickness! Makeba will love it there!

The week of meetings is over...

Hania and I have had meetings Mon., Tues., and Wed. nights this week and we are finally done! It's kinda crazy how as you grow up the more time you find yourself sitting in a cramped room with a bunch of relatively well intentioned individuals trying to stomach some guys feet stinking up the joint while arguing over whether or not "a terms of reference document has the best possible sentence structure". All the while our daughter waits at home quickly losing hope that her parents will ever return.AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I'm sure my tombstone will read: "Came to his end from a death by meeting"

What happens when you're at work...

It will never cease to amaze me how a mother can get done in a day more than a man can in a life time. As some may know I have been promising to get a blog/web page started for my family. I thought that it would be my attempt at a little outreach on behalf of my family. Well needless to say that was at least 5 months ago and I had done nothing.

This leads me to the point of my first post, let me state up front that Hania has done an excellent job and I love how she has managed to capture the essence of our family...Now that that's cleared up, I'm embarrassed! I always somewhat prided myself on the fact that I was the technology minded person in this house. I could answer the tech questions, find solutions, and that it was me who would start the kick butt (and now sort of cliche) family blog. As it turns out I'm the technology buff hampered by chronic procrastination!

Hania, thank you for this! Friends/family/everyone else I hope this helps us keep in touch. I promise to post at least once in a blue moon.

What will it be like?

Hello family and friends!

This is our new way to communicate with you all! We are very excited to share with you! The title of our blog is Kuyobanjani Na? It means "What will it be like?" This is the title of a song by Vusi Mahlasela a South African songwriter. It was our wedding song. The song peruses the idea of being married to his love and what it will be like to have her in his life forever.

I guess we just like to dream about life and our family in the future. Makeba will be 6 months old on Saturday, February 17. It has been the best 6 months of our lives.
